Advent

It is so exciting to wake up each morning and look in the little house's doors and windows that have become our favorite advent calendar.  This year, the candy is found in the chocolate advent calendars and a little just a piece of paper is found in the house.  Each day has a scripture to read and a fun Christmas activity for the day.  We have made crafts, treats, phone- caroled, Christmas pizza and movie night, and last night it was this...

We had dinner by candlelight.  It was so much fun.  The kids all spoke a little quieter and the conversation naturally went to how blessed we are and how much we have been given.  We talked about Jesus's birth and what it would have been like to be there when he was born.  I think we will be doing this more often.  (I kept the lights low the rest of the night and it really kept everyone calm and quiet and made bedtime a breeze!)
