Lesson Learned

I learned a very valuable lesson today! Here it is:
Don't ever give your kids Fiber One Chewy Bars! (especially if one is potty training!) They are great for me- I love them! But don't ever ever share with your children. WAY TOO MUCH FIBER!

Happy Easter

We had a fun and busy Easter weekend. Starting with Friday, we went and saw 'Horton Hears a Who,' came home and got locked out of the house. Eventually got in. Later I took the kids to a Wedding Reception while Nate worked and got home around midnight! AHHHH! The Easter Bunny was nice enough to come Saturday morning so Sunday morning wasn't so crazy. Natalie was most excited about her big pink bunny and the CHOCOLATE! I have taught her well. The boys were excited to get new Leapster games and of course the CANDY! We had a fun neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt in the park behind our house. The kids were excited to wear their new sunglasses- Lookin' cool I must say. Later that night we took the kids to another Wedding Reception and it was the cutest reception I have ever been to. SO CUTE! My parents came with us and we went to dinner after the reception at the Little America Cafe- my dad's favorite.
Easter Sunday we had a wonderful dinner at my mom's house. Thanks MOM! Then another Easter Egg hunt with all the cousins. They all looked so cute in their Easter outfits. They all matched perfectly. Almost too perfectly. Char and I bought Mckay and Jack the same little suit without even planning it. They looked so cute.
The Bradley cousins- missing HOUSTON!
Nick and CarlyThe kids have been eating candy non-stop ever since!

Happy St. Patrick on Spongebob Day

I know that by posting this, many of you will be disappointed to know how well my kids know Spongebob characters, and don't know any other person named Patrick! This morning Nate called the kids to talk and say "good morning." (he left early and the kids are always asking where daddy is if they don't get to say good bye!) When it was Mckay's turn to talk, he told daddy " did you know it is St. Patrick on Spongebob Day?" Somehow the green cereal and the importance that we wear green today didn't give him a clue that today had nothing to do with the star fish Patrick! But, at least I know he highly admires Patrick and thinks it a good idea we have a day to celebrate him. It really makes me think that there are probably a lot of things that I think my children just understand- but really they have no clue what is going on!
For family night tonight, we had our Easter lesson. We were talking about our Savior's life and showing pictures that the kids were familiar with. We then got to the picture of Jesus on the cross and explained to them that he died- that they killed him. It was so sad!! The realization hit home and I was so excited to get to the next part of how he came alive again. I think it clicked with them and hope they felt the spirit I felt that testified of our Savior's love for us. I am grateful for this time of year and the reminder of my Saviour's life, death, and resurrection. I am grateful for the Atonement and that I have been given the opportunity to live with with my Father in Heaven again one day.

Happy Birthday Nate!

My sweet Hubby had his birthday Saturday! Holy cow he is getting old! The kids and I made him a candy bar poster the night before. Nicholas was up bright and early Saturday morning to give it to him. I told Nate that he could sleep in, and tried to keep the kids away. After Nick going in about 5 times to see if he would get up yet, Nate finally got up. The kids couldn't wait for him to read his card- and open all of the candy. We had such a fun day as a family- couch shopping. That night, Nate and I went to Market Street for a yummy dinner. Mmmm!!

Last week as I was trying to clean the house and getting frustrated with the mess- I called Nate to vent! I told him I need a new closet and cabinets in my laundry room. The next day he came home with all of the supplies to build both of my requests. He has spent many late nights this week and lost a lot of sleep over it, but- they are both finished. I now have cabinets in the laundry room and my closet is now wonderful and has so much space to keep organized. Guess I have to be careful what I ask for! Nate is so good to me and I love that he is such a handy man- all around!

Nate- I love you and I am thankful to have such a wonderful hubby and father of my sweet kids. Happy Birthday Babe!!

Nick is in Charge!

As I was getting the kids ready for bed tonight, Nick found Nate's video on my screen and pushed play (see post below). He soon came running back to me to let me know that he was in charge tonight! Thanks Nate. I was tired, Nate is still at work (gotta love Tax Season), and thought 'hmmm, maybe having Nick in charge wouldn't be so bad!' So he totally took charge! He quickly cleaned up his room so he could have story time. He grabbed the scriptures and actually read to us about Alma and Amulek. I thought he would want me to read it, and he repeat it, but he went word by word sounding each one out! He tried keeping Nat and Mckay quiet while he was reading too. I think they listened to him more than they do to me! He then chose Mckay to say our family prayer and asked him if he needed help. He helped him through the whole thing, and once again, Mckay followed exactly what his big brother said. He took Natalie to bed, tucked her in, and told her a story about an ice princess in the forest. He sang her a couple songs in a voice that sounded like he was trying to imitate me! So cute. He gave her a kiss and said "Good night sweetheart!" He then tucked Mckay in, told him a story about Alphagret the Dragon, and Golden the Dinosaur! Nick has definitely learned some good story telling skills from his daddy! He sang songs, Mckay listened again, and they all fell fast asleep! SO, I think this is going to become a more frequent experience. It was fabulous!!!
I also had to post this cute picture of Nick's creativity. He asked me if he could have a tortilla the other night when I was making dinner. I later found him in his room with the tape in hand, and he had designed some new 'ceiling art' for his bedroom. It is actually still there, but his daddy helped him replace the tortilla pieces with paper. I love my little Nicko!!
